Americans seem not to mind hate. But they want ideas.
Unfortunately, one of the lessons of the 2024 election is that Americans seem not to have a problem with explicit hate and Nazi-like rhetoric. Centrist swing voters seem not to care that this is morally abhorrent. So running against hate, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to work.
On the other hand, Americans want ideas, and Trump has no ideas other than hate. He’ll do everything possible to make life horrible for people he hates, but there’s no actual reason to believe this will do anything to improve average people’s lives. We’ll have a big opportunity to hammer this point home when grocery prices triple because Trump deported all the farmworkers.
We should start now by creating and repeating the narrative that Trump has no ideas other than hate. It has the advantage of being true.
